In 1951, Mercedes-Benz presented the Type 220 of the W187 model series. The Cabriolet A was only produced in very small numbers: only 1,278 examples were manufactured between 1951 and 1955. It is precisely this rarity, combined with the elegant lines, that makes the 220A Cabriolet one of the brand’s most sought-after post-war open-air classics today. The W187 stands for Mercedes-Benz luxury-class quality of the early 1950s. The 220 is powered by a 2,195 cc in-line six-cylinder engine with overhead camshaft, ex works with 80 hp. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual gearbox, with a top speed of around 145 km/h for the Cabriolet A.
