History of the 300SL Gullwing
This Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing left the Sindelfingen plant on November 29, 1955 and was delivered to the Mercedes-Benz branch in Houston. The vehicle had two previous owners in the USA. It was imported to Germany in 2008 and has been in current ownership ever since. The current owner acquired the vehicle in 2009.
The vehicle was restored in the USA. With 95,315 miles on the clock, the rear axle was overhauled in 2011, followed by a complete engine overhaul in 2014 at 95,661 miles.
300 SL in Matching Numbers & Matching Colors
This is a vehicle with matching numbers. The chassis, body, engine and gearbox correspond to the original delivery data.
The 300 SL was delivered in the rare color combination DB 534 fire engine red with an interior in L2 MB-Tex beige. This means that the vehicle largely corresponds to its original condition, both technically and visually. Only 158 examples were produced in this exterior color.
